this is very very sad...wish the Philippine government would do all it can to prevent the same tragedy from happening.

I am a Master Mariner residing in Philippines and I see maritime disasters every year. Many incidents could be avoided through better seamanship and good judgement. Philippines experiences about 20 typhoons annually so the shipping community should be better prepared. It appears that the Coast Guard are not proactive and there reactions are insucfficent. Other resoursces are not worthy of mention. Weather forecasts are generally very accutate and should be trusted in passage planning.

The warnings were obvious but it seems many accepted to ignore.

It is time for all authorities to be accountable and take action to prevent other major disasters at sea ( and on land too). No prudent seafarer will stand in the path of a typhoon or sail into one.

There are many obvious questions to be asked and I hope the final results will be made available to the public.

No amount of apologies or compensation can console the families of the missing passengers and crew.

I wish for a safer life at sea and onshore for all filipinos through the appropriate actions of all authorities.
