I love the fact you guys always have the most up-to-date info on ships!
  • Bryan · 1 year ago
I like gCaptain because, even though I'm a lifelong landlubber who gets seasick in the bathtub, I can learn all these great things about all kinds of different ships.
  • Jon · 1 year ago
I like how I can read it at work and it looks like I'm keeping up on industry news, but it feels like pleasure reading.

gCaptain is a gateway to a whole different life, one that I could have been a part of if I had made choice X instead of choice Y. I don't regret choice Y. But I miss ships and going to sea. You bring me a bit closer to that. Thanks.

I love being able to read about what's going on in the industry that I'll be joining in a few years, in an entertaining and interesting format. I always find useful and engaging information, and look forward to new posts.

When I get home from sea the gCaptain podcasts let me get caught up with the most recent happenings in the maritime industry. M.A.I.S. is always current and relevant.
  • Ran Barton · 1 year ago
gCaptain's features where it profiles unusual vessels are my favorite. I've learned about several types of ship I never knew existed.
  • CMA_decky · 1 year ago
gCaptain rocks because it helps to make me sound edumacated when I talk about the industry with profs
  • Daren L · 1 year ago
Because it is so salty :) Keep up the good work folks.
  • John · 1 year ago
Thanks Ran... these comments are really meant to help us figure out what content to offer more of.

CMA_decky... how come the only commentator on the gCaptain payroll has trouble spelling educated? SMILE

I like the sense of community that has been established here, especially in the forums. It's a great tool that one interested in the maritime industry can use for advice, news, and learning from others' experiences.

I like gCaptain because it gives me a window into a different world, one I could have explored but did not. I sail a bit, I've been in some respectable races, but my skills don't compare to others I've known. Growing up it never occurred to me how many different options there were on this planet. The water still draws me though my world is computers, but gCaptain (and the podcast) give me a glimpse into what else is there. None of us have sufficient time on the planet to learn about all the different experiences that abound, but gCaptain offers a nice glimpse into the portal beyond my office, Lake Erie and elsewhere. Happy Anniversary and keep up the great work!

I love how gCaptain has become THE place to go for commercial maritime news. Oh, and I like it when gCaptain links to Navagear! :-)
  • Steve · 1 year ago
I like gCaptain because it lets me feel in touch with the industry even though I'm back in school for awhile.

I like this site and check it couple times a day. Really happy I found it.
Have even listen to a pod cast.
  • Anchorman · 1 year ago
I would have to say the forum. News is always good, but engaging other professionals trumps it all. And yes, I did buy a few gadgets based on reviews from John. To be honest, I like the whole site...........it's the blend of everything together that makes it great!!

I really love the RSS feeds and Maritime Mondays

G-captain keeps me dialed into all the g-spots in the industry. Cant beat the web site for current info. and blog.
  • John (Jolly Tar) · 1 year ago
The fact that there is literally HUNDREDS of years of experience at our fingertips waiting to be tapped. I had a question about NTMs that NO ONE at work could nail down with any certainty. Everyone had an opinion no one had any facts.
48-ish hours after posting I had definitive facts that could be referenced. Fantastic.

I appreciate the "TOOL" section, easy to use at all levels of the maritime trade, teacher, student, on board proffesional, researcher, you name it it's what the internet is really all about! A great referance and aid to the mariner
  • civengrpe · 1 year ago
Great web site. Photos, articles, forum topics, all provide up to date info and insight to the maritime industry. For someone not involved in this business, but interested in learning, it's a one stop shop.

i love the fact that even though i don't work on ships anymore, i can still read about what's going on in the offshore world and keep up to date on what's going on in the industry.
  • Bart VdV · 1 year ago
gCaptain is basically the number-one website if you want to know all about what's going on in the maritime world, and yet it never turns out to be uptight or dull. It should be your homepage!
  • Will · 1 year ago
I love gCaptain because of all the nice pictures and video of ships. It is all very interesting stuff
  • Dadofamariner · 1 year ago
I most like the forums. I have learned so much about the industry from others question, answers and comments.

The daily blog is a very close second. The variety of topics is amazing. There is so much about this industry to learn and gCaptain is the first place to begin the education.

Thanks for the site and good luck in the future.
